“A library is a place where
the imagination begins.”

Meet Our Library Manager
Effective June 1, 2021, Alison Peters was named Branch Manager of the Hercules Library. Ever since she was a small child and her local librarian looked like Wonder Woman, Alison has always loved libraries. Now she delights in being a superhero to her community library patrons by finding just the right book or resource, providing fun and educational programs, and playing dress up (an overlooked but very necessary part of the job).
Alison earned an English degree from UC Berkeley, an MFA from Mills College and an MLIS from San Jose State. She has interned with Librarians Without Borders and freelanced for Book Riot, Collaborative Librarianship, MediaShift, Hack Library School and the East Bay Express.
Alison proposed Contra Costa County Library’s first Diversity Committee which convened in June 2019. She was a 2019-2020 CLA Leadership Cohort.
